Moral of the Story

stock-footage-chef-tossing-vegetable-stir-fry-in-a-wok-in-slow-motionWorking as a chef for an organic food catering company hadn’t exactly been what Flynn pictured his 20s would be like but he honestly had no complaints. It was a good, steady job and he had always enjoyed cooking. He hadn’t expected what had originally just been a means of feeding himself to turn into a job but he liked the environment. The kitchen he worked in was nice, he got to try out new recipes and be creative about his cooking and he had always liked the image of people enjoying his work.

Plus, he had great coworkers here and that alone was a good enough reason to stay. It was pretty rare when you got along with the majority of your peers. Continue reading

Galaxy Lyra: Living the Dream

empty-futuristic-interior-with-balks-3d-illustration_86273347Tugging at his uniform collar, Flynn Yi stared eagerly up at the military crest set up against the wall before him. It was overwhelming, big enough to easily fit fifty men across it. A golden lyre rested neatly in the arm of a vine, the strings that would normally resonate such a lovely tune were instead replaced by four lines of stars – one for each planet in the galaxy they governed over. It was a symbol of unity; it was a symbol of peace.

Sinking Destiny: Planting the Seed

Glancing at his reflection in the mirror, Satoshi continued to adjust his collar as he gave a side glance to the servant busy lounging on his bed rather than offer assistance in dressing him as his job entailed. “We could do what?”

“Leave. Hitch a ride on the next ship leavin’ port and never look back.” He flashed a toothy grin, the sort that Satoshi had seen maids swoon at and charm nobleman with heavy pockets for tips. The type of smile that held abandon and adventure.

The sort that Satoshi recognized as the one that normally lead to trouble-bound conversations. Continue reading

Origins: Lovely Dancer

The life of the house filled your lungs from the first step onto the front lawn. Where the neighbours had simple, matching green lawns, there was no grass upon his. Instead, every inch from the sidewalk to the front door was an abundance of flowers, herbs and trees. A large willow tree sheltered the flowers from above, the slightest breeze setting the vines fluttering. Lush flowers, varying in colours, sizes and types grew together in thick beds. Their sweet smell swirled and floated around, enticing all forms of life from bees to birds. Stone slabs invited guests to the front door where a cheery doormat wished them a good day. Alo – realm of shapeshifting demons

In the beginning, the twins lived in an alternate realm called Alo – a realm that was reserved for shape shifting demons. Alo is a realm that is built much like a large cavern. There are stalactites in place of a wide, open sky. Their light source (since something akin to the sun is absent) are the thousands of bio-luminescent insects that reside along the walls of the cavern. They often live in swarms, their glowing light varying blue, purple and green based on their species. They are a constant in this realm – a light source that never dies. Because this realm resides in a world of interconnecting caverns, the city structures are build directly into the cavern walls or carved from the stone to create the homes of these shape shifting demons.
